Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (Review)

There’s no doubt that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is Director’s James Gunn vision. You can say that it is undoubtedly the darkest marvel movie yet, and the jokes as hilarious as ever, don’t do much to distract the viewer from horrific scenes that contain outright mass murder, the heroes constantly vocalizing their want to kill people, and Nebula and Gamora’s disturbing past with Thanos. The plot is well rounded, and it answers a lot of questions that we asked in the first movie, but it lacks its sense of adventure. It is however as predictable as it gets, with the defeat the bad guy, save the universe and escape an explosion plot that Marvel doesn’t seem to get rid of. With the presence of nearly all Marvel characters in Infinity War, it doesn’t seem likely to explore Gamora’s story more, even if it’s directly tied to Thanos. So, I feel a bit robbed that we didn’t get to know her character more. There’s a massive downgrade in the score, but it doesn’t affect the quality of the movie. It’s a fun film, but mediocre at best. It does what it’s supposed to do, hype us for the upcoming Infinity War.
